Beauty tips: Make-Up trends this Summer
With aqua blue eyes, tangerine and pink lips, and hot pink or yellow nails everywhere it seems that beauty has a brighter future. The hype summer is the perfect moment to pack a punch with eye-popping colors before we all return to the common dark smoky eyes and berry lips for winter.
This season was inspired by the 80s catwalk trends and famous celebs like Rihanna and Sophie Ellis-Bextor have put bold colors on the beauty map. Forget fluoro and think of colored pastels such as sherbet lemon, sky blue, flamingo pink to put you into the summer’s mood
However you must be careful to the color scheme that you use to avoid looking like an over-experimental teenager, go and choose candy colors carefully.
“Keep everything else neutral – you just need one sweep of bold colour,” says Flourish director and make-up designer Annabel Jardella.
“As a rule, it’s eyes or lips – not both! Always go for a matte look with brights and avoid gloss.”
These are some tips to do colors that pop:
Lips
For a pout-feel with look-at-me appeal just keep the rest of your face natural and let your lips scream the color. Do not use gimmicky shades such as lavender and blue, and stick to warm tones which will complement golden summer skin.
“For lips, bright orange or fuchsia pink, as worn by Cheryl Cole, flatter most skin tones and eyes,” Annabel suggests.
“Use a lip liner and a good flat and rounded lip brush for precision with a matte lipstick that’s dryish in texture. Start by drawing the lip line, then blend inwards with the brush. Add colour and lastly a touch of clear gloss to soften.”
Eyes
Open up your peepers with one show-stopping wash of your favorite color and shade. Look for some solid, opaque colors and shades with intense build-up as well as top off lashes with a color mascara if you dare.
Direct from the spring/summer catwalks, violet is considered as ”the” shade to be flashing on your eyelids this season.
If you are thinking of dabbling in punchy purple, make-up artist Jemma Kidd advises: “Purples suit most eye colours, however if you have dark circles under the eyes make sure they are well concealed as purple eye shadows will accentuate them.”
“If you don’t want to colour the whole lid, simply draw along the upper lash line using a bold colour and then add lashings of black mascara to the top and bottom lashes to tone down the brightness.”
Nails
If you choose having that natural look on your face, you can still go to town with the super-bright through your nails..Nails in rainbow shades are the instant way to give your look a high summer lift, but if you’re going bold, avoid the matchy-matchy look of teaming up your nail shade with your clothes and also your accessories.
“Pop colours look hottest on short, square nails,” says Charlotte Straughan, creative director for Ciaté.
“Apply a base coat before your colour – this will protect the nail from staining and hold the vibrant colour for longer. Then choose your favorite bright color and apply two coats for an eye-popping finish.”
Like what we always say, go for makeup that suit your personality and also those makeup product lines that will keep your skin still healthy, for achieving that healthy, beautiful look inside and out.
THIN or FULL LIPS: TIPS TO MAXIMIZE THE LOOKS
Lips are considered to be one of the most important part of the face. Each of us have either a thin or a full lips and to be able to have that look that we want, we should know what to do with our thin or full lips. We should be able to maximize our lips to make us look more beautiful and sexy.
Here are some Easy Lip Tips:
* To keep your lips going all day, first pencil all over lips with a soft lip pencil. Apply lipstick over and blot.
* If you have a thinner lips you can make it fuller, line lips with a pencil and then blend the edges with a sponge applicator. Cover with gloss or petroleum jelly.
* To keep lipstick off teeth, pucker lips into an extreme “O”. Cover your finger with tissue, and pole it into your mouth. Slowly twist it out of your mouth, eliminating any excess color.
* To achieve a pouty, sexy mouth, emphasize your top lip by dabbing just a touch of gloss in the center.
* Highlight your lips with a very light eye shadow color that coordinates with your lip color tones. Place it right in the center of your upper and lower lips.
* To balance unevenly shaped lips, use a lighter colored lipstick on the smaller-sized lip.
* To keep lipstick in place while dining, keep lips off utensils. Use your lower teeth and tongue to do the work.
* Gently rub with washcloth over lips before applying lipstick to smooth out lips.
* Apply foundation around the lips give a precise look without lip liner.
You are lucky if you’ve been blessed with those large lips. Women everywhere are trying to replicate with collagen. But large lips can take over your face if you’re not careful.
* You really don’t need lip liner, but if you like the look, soften edge with your finger or a Q-tip.
* Don’t wear any lip color that is too glossy or shiny.
* Draw slightly beyond the lip with a neutral-colored lip pencil. Then apply lipstick. Your lipstick will “catch” onto the liner.
* Apply white shadow on center of lips over lipstick and spread slightly.
* Don’t wear a very dark shade of lipstick. It makes lips more smaller.
