Make-UP FACT or FICTION
In choosing make-ups, we should consider some do’s and, and this does not only include the color that we should wear. It’s essential to keep in mind the health of your skin.
Dr. Ronald Downs have provided some fact and fictions regarding make up and beauty sizzlers would be willing to guide you in this.
- Wear products from one brand/line only
Fiction: Your skin doesn’t really know you’re mixing brands and neither does anyone have ideas about it. In this regard, you may choose which brands or products that suit you and your needs but if you choose only one, this can limit your options and preferences. This myth was most likely given by a cosmetic firm to be able to sell more of their produtcts. If you are using prescription grade skin care then it’s the only time you should stick with a specific product line to avoid problems with active ingredient interaction. - You can harm your skin if you wear makeup every day
Fiction: Such myth may confuse you in line with the wearing of make-up overnight. Makeup has been formulated to help one protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun if it contains an SPF, and from the effects of other factors like wind and dust. Most makeup products have some ingredients that can actually ourish and moisturize the skin during the day. Many concealers, foundations, face powders ans well as even lip glosses offer sun protection with an SPF 15 or higher. Be sure to read labels and the list of ingredients. - If you use waterproof mascara your lashes will become brittle
Fiction: Conversely, most of the waterproof mascaras have more proteins as well as vitamins than the water soluble mascaras. They used silicone oils which generates protective coat on the lashes as well as nourish them. Yes, it’s true that waterproof mascara may be a little harder to remove in the evening but you won’t have any problems if you use good makeup remover. - Mineral makeup is made of all natural ingredients
Depends: This myth may be considered true and not. Accordingly, Mineral makeup is makeup stripped down to a few bare essentials, without the fragrances, dyes, as well as many other synthetic ingredients cosmetic firms have put in makeup for years.
Nonetheless, , not every brand of mineral makeup is as pure or natural as it most advertised them. Some cosmetic firms are also adding synthetic ingredients, yet still label the product as mineral makeup. The present trend in cosmetics, beauty care, skincare, and nearly every product imaginable, is for all things to be natural as well as environmental friendly. The cosmetic marketing firm has pounced on this, advertising the benefits of an all-natural product and the woes of a synthetic chemical.
The truth behind this myth is that cosmetic firms are producing mineral makeup with only natural, gentle ingredients. Whether the mineral makeup is all natural or not, if you are satisfied with the results, then you are assured of having beautiful skin and physical look.
- Mineral makeup can heal skin
Fiction: Mineral makeup, since it doesn’t have many irritating elements, is a good choice for women with skin issues which include rosacea, a condition causing redness, or for those who have undergone laser treatments or facial peels. It may be a good option for people with acne, but only because of the lack of bad ingredients that can cause more irritation with your sensitive skin, not as an acne healer. Its gentleness provides these women with a choice for covering embarrassing skin conditions, typically without worsening the condition.
Impression that Last: What shoes to wear on a job interview?
Are you going on a job interview tomorrow, and you think that this is a make or break job interview for you? If you really want that new job then you should try to establish that impression that last! To have this impression that is really lasting. You already plan your outfit tomorrow. You even have in mind what colors you will wear and the make-up to match it and you have already done up your nails. You bought a new pair pantyhose to ensure that the one you will not have some snags over it. So you think you are all prepared and the next thing to do is to get into that outfit and to drive yourself to your interview early enough to arrive at the venue of the job interview five minutes before your appointment.
But wait!! Aren’t you forgetting something? What about your shoes! Oh my, you think it does not matter at all since no one will be looking at them? That’s where you are wrong! Of course, the people in the company will rank you from head to toe and if they’d probably look at your shows. And if you do not meet the overall impression that you’re aiming to get your dream job, then you’ll end up a loser.
The shoes you wear should complete the look and impression you want to have when you are doing that job interview. You must think of the perfect shoes for the corporate attire and outfit and it should be dress shoes with closed toes as well as heels that are three inches or lower. If you are more into flats, then you should go for them. Furthermore, the shoes that you ‘l’ll wear should be clean and complement your entire outfit. Wearing dirty and scruffy shoes to a job interview will not help you get that job you always wanted. In fact, you are more likely to lose this great career opportunity by wearing these scruffy and dirty shoes. There are some notions that such shoes communicate to the interviewer that you are a sloppy and careless person.
However, his does not mean that you cannot show your personal style with the shoes you are wearing . You can still do so, but you have to remember that the look you opted to have should be appropriate for the job you are applying for. If you are applying for a position in the banking or finance industries , you should try to be a little more conservative. If you are applying for a job which allows and permits you to be more creative, like in advertising, then wear something that speaks creativity and uniqueness, like large buckles or animal prints.
Apart from dirty and scruffy shoes, never ever wear these kinds of shoes to a job interview:
Sneakers. Sure, sneakers are very comfortable and laidback, but they are not formal enough. Job interviews are formal affairs.
Flip-flops, sandals and open-toed shoes. Again, job interviews are formal affairs, and should thus be treated formally. Flip-flops, sandals and open-toed shoes, even if they look classy enough, still look informal and therefore should not be worn on job interviews.
Extremely high heels. High heels look nice. They make you look taller and slimmer. But they are not that practical. You would not want to meet an accident and sprain your ankle while you are rushing to get to your job interview on time. Also, you would want your feet to be comfortable while you are talking to your interviewer. Pain caused by extremely high heels will show on your face.
Embellished shoes. Shoes with too many adornments like crystals or metallic chunks are good for evening wear, not for an office scene. And definitely not for job interviews.
Remember put your best foot forward at your job interview. And good luck!
HEALTHY AND BEAUTY TIPS: COSMETICS and MAKEUP EXPIRATION
Summer is out and it’s time to go back to school. However, one of the most overlooked area in the back to school rush are cosmetics. If you are starting the new school year using the same makeup that you had last fall, you may be in need for a total makeover, perhaps not on your looks but with your makeup products.
At present, there are still no regulations in the United States which require expiration dates on cosmetics and makeups. The consumer should be aware of this information and should use their best judgment with what they use.
Generally foundations and concealers have a shelf-life of 12-18 months (that is 1 to 1 and half years). If you are using a liquid foundation, take a look if it already separated in the bottle and in this case, it has probably gone bad. Beauty Experts note that if the makeup past its prime then it will have a different consistency and be harder to apply, or worst, may have some allergic reactions on your body or skin. You may also tell if your makeup is expired with its odor or a color change.
For our pouty lips, lipstick can have a lifespan of three years, but it all depends on the formula . Sunscreen in the lipstick typically is not effective past that point.
Among all cosmetics, eye makeup has the shortest lifespan once it’s opened. This is because of the repeated exposure to microbes and bacteria. For instance, mascara should be replaced every three months. Remember that you should always discard any eye makeup which was used just before or during an eye infection. Using it over and over can cause recurring infections.
For natural products, experts say that they have a shorter shelf life because their organic ingredients are more ideal for the growth of bacteria. In addition, preservative free cosmetics should be replaced more frequently as they lack the chemicals to sustain them once opened.
If you see black spots or growth on a product or on your makeup, it should be thrown out immediately. This is a fungus and can cause infection for your skin. Simply wiping it away isn’t good enough, as you can only see the fungus that has had the most time to grow.
Important
Never add water to cosmetics. Instead of prolonging the life of your makeup. adding water to it can l cause the growth of bacteria and microscopic bugs.
Always be aware of the cosmetics that you use. Mark the date that you opened the product on the bottom to avoid a guessing game. be aware on changes in color, odor, and consistency. If you have an infection discard the products you’ve been using to avoid recurring problems.
