Make-UP FACT or FICTION

In choosing make-ups, we should consider some do’s and, and this does not only include the color that we should  wear. It’s essential to keep in mind the health of your skin.

Dr. Ronald Downs have provided some fact and fictions regarding make up and beauty sizzlers would be willing to guide you in this.

  • Wear products from one brand/line only
    Fiction:
Your skin doesn’t really know you’re mixing brands and neither does anyone have ideas about it. In this regard, you may choose which brands or products that suit you and your needs but if you choose only one, this can limit your options and preferences. This myth was most likely given by a cosmetic firm to be able to sell more of their produtcts. If you are using prescription grade skin care then it’s the only time you should stick with a specific product line to avoid problems with active ingredient interaction.
  • You can harm your skin if you wear makeup every day
    Fiction:
Such myth may confuse you in line with the wearing of make-up overnight. Makeup has been formulated to help one protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun if it contains an SPF, and from the effects of other factors like wind and dust. Most makeup products have some ingredients that can actually ourish and moisturize the skin during the day. Many concealers, foundations, face powders ans well as even lip glosses offer sun protection with an SPF 15 or higher. Be sure to read labels and the list of ingredients.
  • If you use waterproof mascara your lashes will become brittle
    Fiction:
Conversely, most of the waterproof mascaras have more proteins as well as vitamins than the water soluble mascaras. They used silicone oils which generates protective coat on the lashes as well as nourish them. Yes, it’s true that waterproof mascara may be a little harder to remove in the evening but you won’t have any problems if you use good makeup remover.
  • Mineral makeup is made of all natural ingredients
    Depends:
This myth may be considered true and not.  Accordingly, Mineral makeup is makeup stripped down to a few bare essentials, without the fragrances, dyes, as well as many other synthetic ingredients cosmetic firms have put in makeup for years.

Nonetheless, , not every brand of mineral makeup is as pure or natural as it most advertised them. Some cosmetic firms are also adding synthetic ingredients, yet still label the product as mineral makeup. The  present trend in cosmetics, beauty care,  skincare, and nearly every product imaginable, is for all things to be natural as well as environmental friendly. The cosmetic marketing firm  has pounced on this, advertising the benefits of an all-natural product and the woes of a synthetic chemical.

The truth behind this myth is that cosmetic  firms are producing mineral makeup with only natural, gentle ingredients. Whether the mineral makeup is all natural or not, if you are satisfied with the results, then you are assured of having beautiful skin and physical look.

  • Mineral makeup can heal skin
    Fiction:
Mineral makeup, since it doesn’t have many irritating elements, is a good choice for women with skin issues which include rosacea, a condition causing redness, or for those who have undergone laser treatments or facial peels. It may be a good option for people with acne, but only because of the lack of bad ingredients that can cause more irritation with your sensitive skin, not as an acne healer. Its gentleness provides these women with a choice for covering embarrassing skin conditions, typically without worsening the condition.

Beauty tips: Make-Up trends this Summer

With aqua blue eyes, tangerine and pink lips, and hot pink or yellow nails  everywhere it seems that beauty has a brighter future.  The hype summer is the perfect moment to pack a punch with eye-popping colors before we all return to the common dark smoky eyes and berry lips for winter.

This season was inspired by the 80s catwalk trends and famous celebs like Rihanna and Sophie Ellis-Bextor have put bold colors on the beauty map.  Forget fluoro and think of colored pastels such as sherbet lemon, sky blue, flamingo pink to put you into the summer’s moodTH1_1782009596022763-1hb .

However you must be careful to the color scheme that you use to avoid looking like an over-experimental teenager, go and choose candy colors carefully.
Keep everything else neutral – you just need one sweep of bold colour,” says Flourish director and make-up designer Annabel Jardella.

As a rule, it’s eyes or lips – not both! Always go for a matte look with brights and avoid gloss.”

These are some tips to do colors that pop:
Lips
For a pout-feel with look-at-me appeal just keep the rest of your face natural and let your lips scream the color. Do not use gimmicky shades such as lavender and blue, and stick to warm tones which will complement golden summer skin.

For lips, bright orange or fuchsia pink, as worn by Cheryl Cole, flatter most skin tones and eyes,” Annabel suggests.

Use a lip liner and a good flat and rounded lip brush for precision with a matte lipstick that’s dryish in texture. Start by drawing the lip line, then blend inwards with the brush. Add colour and lastly a touch of clear gloss to soften.”

Eyes

Open up your peepers with one show-stopping wash of your favorite color and shade. Look for some solid, opaque colors and shades with intense build-up as well as top off lashes with a color mascara if you dare.

Direct from the spring/summer catwalks, violet is considered as  ”the” shade to be flashing on your eyelids this season.

If you are thinking of dabbling in punchy purple, make-up artist Jemma Kidd advises: “Purples suit most eye colours, however if you have dark circles under the eyes make sure they are well concealed as purple eye shadows will accentuate them.”

“If you don’t want to colour the whole lid, simply draw along the upper lash line using a bold colour and then add lashings of black mascara to the top and bottom lashes to tone down the brightness.”

Nails
If you choose having that natural look on your face, you can still go to town with the super-bright through your nails..Nails in rainbow shades are the instant way to give your look a high summer lift, but if you’re going bold, avoid the matchy-matchy look of teaming up your nail shade with your clothes and also your accessories.

“Pop colours look hottest on short, square nails,” says Charlotte Straughan, creative director for Ciaté.

“Apply a base coat before your colour – this will protect the nail from staining and hold the vibrant colour for longer. Then choose your favorite bright color and apply two coats for an eye-popping finish.”

Like what we always say, go for makeup that suit your personality and also those makeup product lines that will keep your skin still healthy, for achieving that healthy, beautiful look inside and out.

Lip color trend for 2009

Two dominant colors for the lips have been used for this year. These could either be the pale color or the bright color shades. The pale or nude look is one of the make up design introduced for this year. In order to create this look, pale rose shades, mat lipsticks or almost colorless tones are used for the lips. Various catwalks including those of max mara, etro, lancetti, laura biagiotti and cavalli have shown how to use this make up technique. Other designers however have used the bright colored-lip trend as evidenced by paola frani, rocco barocco and trend les copains. Colors such as orange-red, bright pink and cherry red are the ones that are typically used .

it has been  noted that one of the distinct characteristics of the 2005 make up trend for the lips is the increased use of gloss. Some well-known manufacturers are even producing lipsticks with gloss as their latest product lines. Some of these manufacturers include YSL, Chanel, Dior, Sisley, Kanebo and Shiseido. Lipstick color produced with gloss is usually pink of different shades, from fuchsia to plum to softer shades. Other colors include orange, beige, coral and peach.

Lip color trend for 2009 is as versatile as the eye color make up trend. Moreover, both trends can actually be used in order to enhance a specific part of the face. For instance, light colored lips with gloss are typically paired with dark colored eyes. Through this make up technique, make up artists are able to emphasize the eyes more. Moreover, combining light colored makeup with dark ones help in establishing balance in the overall look.untitled

Figure 1 & 2: These pictures show two styles of lip color used for 2009. The first figure used a light color for the lips, whereas the second figure used a darker shade with gloss added. Notice how overall balance has been achieved by both pictures. The first picture used a lighter lip color but dark colors were used for the eyes. On the contrary, light make up for the eyes was used on the second picture. This is an example of a make up technique used in emphasizing a specific part of the face.
